Creative Writing: Imaginative Prose 05/17

$55.00

**IN-STORE WORKSHOP**

Saturday, May 17, 2025
from 11am to 1pm
with Michelle Grajeda

“You are the only one of you . . . your unique perspective, at this time, in our age, whether it’s on Tunis or the tree outside your window, is what matters. Don’t worry about being original . . . Yes, everything’s been written, but also, the thing you want to write, before you wrote it, was impossible to write. Otherwise it would already exist.” ~ Author Annie Dillard

In this session, multiple forms of prose will act as portals to the stories in our memories and imaginations. As Dillard observes, our stories, told with our voices, create perspectives no one else has heard, even if we fear the subject matter feels familiar. While we explore the practices of powerful writing, we will discuss the difference between employing tropes and merely being trite—and will consider the compelling work of other writers to find our own voices and tell our own truths. This session is open to all 18 and older who wish to begin or continue crafting imaginative fiction and non-fiction.
